Abstract
U radu je dan općeniti opis lukova kao nosivih elemenata te povijesni pregled primjene lukova u graditeljstvu (od rimskih lučnih mostova do građevina Gaudija i Maillarta) i razvoja teorija njihova proračuna (starorimski i srednjovjekovni pristupi, teorije Hookea, La Hirea, Coupleta i Coulomba). Opisani su grafički postupci rješavanja problema stabilnosti te su objašnjeni pojmovi tlačne linije, vlačno-tlačne analkogije, graničnoga stanja sloma i mehanizama sloma. Na primjerima je prikazan postupak određivanja mehanizma sloma.
Abstract (english)
The thesis gives a general description of arches as load-bearing elements, as well as a historical overview of the use of arches in civil engineering (from Roman arch bridges to the buildings of Gaudí and Maillart) and the development of theories for their calculation (ancient Roman and medieval approaches, theories of Hooke, La Hire, Couplet, and Coulomb). Graphical procedures for solving stability problems are described and the concepts of the thrustline, tension-compression analogy, limit state of failure, and collapse mechanisms are explained. Examples illustrate the procedure for determining the collapse mechanism.
