Abstract
U radu je dan opis lukova kao nosivih elemenata te povijesni pregled primjene lukova u graditeljstvu, posebice u mostogradnji, i razvoja teorija njihova proračuna (starorimski i srednjovjekovni pristupi, teorije Hookea, La Hirea, Coupleta i Coulumba). Opisani su i grafički postupci rješavanja problema stabilnosti i elastično rješenje te su objašnjeni pojmovi tlačne linije, graničnog stanja sloma i mehanizama sloma. Izrađen je jednostavan fizički model luka koji je poslužio za vizualizaciju različitih mehanizama sloma.
Abstract (english)
The thesis gives a general description of arches as load-bearing elements, as well as a historical overview of the use of arches in civil engineering, in particular in bridge construction, and the development of theories for their calculation (ancient Roman and mediaeval approaches, theories of Hooke, La Hire, Couplet and Coulomb). Graphical procedures for solving stability problems and elastic solutions are described and the concepts of the thrustline, limit state of failure and collapse mechanisms are explained. A simple physical model is manufactured and used in the visualisation of various collapse mechanisms.
