Danas, u vremenu prepunom suvremenih materijala poput čelika, stakla i betona te drugih složenih materijala drvo predstavlja jedan od glavnih građevinskih materijala. S arhitektonskog gledišta drvo je plemenit materijal sa širokim mogućnostima konstruktivnog oblikovanja. In today time’s time full of contemporary materials like steel, glass, concrete and other complex materials, wood represents one of the main building materials.
