Abstract

Rad započinje opisivanjem samog pojma potresa, što je, kako nastaje, koje su vrste te koja su područja u svijetu najugroženija. Nastavlja se opisom i vrstama zapornica te prijelaskom na glavni dio rada, a to su metode ispitivanja interakcije brana-akumulacija. Prolazi se kroz više metoda Westergaarda, Chwanga i Housnera za određivanje tlakova vode na krutu ravnu branu i nagnutu branu tokom potresa. Završetak rada pokazuje primjere loše projektiranih brana koje su stvarale ugrozu za sigurnost ljudi ili su se srušile.

Abstract (english)

The paper begins by describing the very concept of an earthquake, what it is, how it occurs, types of earthquakes and which areas in the world are at the biggest risk. It continues with the description and types of spillway gates and the transition to the main part, which are the methods of testing dam-reservoir interaction. It goes through several methods by Westergaard, Chwang and Housner for determining the water pressures on rigid vertical dam and sloped dam during an earthquake. At the end examples of poorly designed dams are shown that have been a threat for human safety or that have already collapsed.
