Abstract

U ovom završnom radu ćemo obraditi iznimno aktualnu temu potresa/seizmike u Republici Hrvatskoj. U prvom dijelu rada nalazimo pregled razvoja seizmologije kao znanstvene discipline te produbljenja ljudskog poznavanja planeta zemlje kroz povijest. U drugom poglavlju odgovaramo na pitanja poput „Što je to točno potres? Što pobuđuje potres? Utječe li sastav tla na jačinu potresa?“ i na mnoga druga povezana pitanja. Treće se poglavlje dotiče područja Republike Hrvatske te u njemu pokušavamo navesti razloge seizmičke aktivnosti ovih prostora uz spominjanje povijesnih interesnih točaka. U četvrtom poglavlju obrađujemo primjere iz bliže seizmičke povijesti Hrvatske s naglaskom na zagrebačko područje i Pokuplje te se dotičemo vječnog pitanja predviđanja potresa.

Abstract (english)

In this thesis we are going to discuss the extremely relevant topics of earthquakes and seismicity in the Republic of Croatia. In the introductory part, a general overview of seismology as a science is given coupled with a review of the historical development of the human understanding of Earth as a planet. The second part of the paper is dedicated to answering questions such as ; „What is an earthquake? What triggers an earthquake? Does soil composition affect earthquake magnitude?“ and many other related questions. The third part is focused on the area of Croatia and in it we try and highlight the reasons for Croatias seismicity with an addition of reviewing the history of earthquake research in the country. In the fourth part we're taking a look at a few examples from Croatias recent list of seismic events with an emphasis on the area around the city of Zagreb and the Kupa river region. The topic of earthquake prediction is also discussed.
