U ovom radu opisana je kratka povijest betona od prvih primjena mortova u Siriji, Egiptu,antičkoj Grčkoj do Rimskog Carstva te daljnji razvoj nakon srednjeg vijeka kada dolazi do nastanka i razvoja betona kakve danas poznajemo. Ukratko su obrađene i prednosti i mane te sastojci i ponašanje uobičajenih betona. This paper describes a brief history of concrete from the first applications of mortars in Syria, Egypt, ancient Greece to the Roman Empire, and further development after the Middle Ages, when the concrete as we know it today appears. The advantages and disadvantages, as well as the constituents and behavior of conventional concrete, are briefly discussed.
