Abstract

Žene su u tradicionalno „muškoj“ građevinskoj industriji tijekom niza godina bile prisutne tek u malom postotku. Međutim, zbog izazova s kojima se građevinska industrija posljednjih godina suočava, a koji uključuju nedostatak radne snage te smanjenje produktivnosti, počinju se kreirati strategije privlačenja žena u industriju. U ovom je radu prikazan položaj žena u društvu te u građevinskoj industriji kroz godine. Pregledom postojeće literature o ovoj temi ustanovljeni su glavni izazovi s kojima se žene susreću, faktori uspjeha te strategije koje pomažu u razvoju karijera žena u industriji. Kako bi se utvrdilo stanje rodne ravnopravnosti i položaja žena u hrvatskom građevinarstvu, u ovom je radu provedeno istraživanje, koje je uključivalo dva anketna upitnika i tri intervjua. Cilj istraživanja bio je upoznati se s percepcijom javnosti i zaposlenika u građevinskoj industriji o ulozi žena u građevinarstvu. Posao koji kombinira gradilište i ured najprikladniji je tip posla za građevinarke, prema mišljenju anketirane javnosti, dok iskustva žena zaposlenih u građevinarstvu pokazuju kako je prilagođavanje radnom okruženju najvažniji faktor za uspješan rad žena u građevinarstvu.

Abstract (english)

For many years, women have been a minority in the traditionally "male" construction industry. However, due to challenges faced by the construction industry in recent years, which include labour shortages and reduced productivity, strategies are being developed to attract women into the industry. This thesis presents the overview of the historical role of the women in society with special emphases on their role in the construction industry. A review of the existing literature has identified the main challenges that women face, success factors and strategies that help develop women's careers in the industry. In order to explore the gender equality and the position of women in Croatian construction industry, a research, including two questionnaires and three in depth interviews were conducted. The aim was to obtain perceptions related to the role of woman in construction by exploring the public opinion and employees in the construction industry as well. An appointment that combines working at the construction site and in the office is the most suitable for women in construction, according to surveyed public opinion. According to survey of women with experience of working in the construction the most important success factor is adjusting to the work environment.
